This one day course is designed to give massage therapists the confidence to massage clients during pregnancy and to actively promote “pregnancy massage” as a treatment. The course is accredited and recognised by Blossom & Berry & Westminster Indemnity Insurance and focuses on providing a holistic massage aimed at helping relieve many of the common minor aliments of pregnancy. The course covers;
A basic overview of anatomy and physiology in pregnancy
Advice and guidance on contra-indications
Precautions and test recommended before commencing massage.
Oils used during pregnancy.
Different positions for massaging pregnant clients
Massage techniques to help relieve common ailments experienced in pregnancy and advice on post natal massage.
The course will give you the skills to provide a general holistic massage for pregnancy focusing on relaxation and boosting circulation. It does not look at using remedial massage to help treat specific issues such as sciatic pain or pelvic pain etc. Gentle massage of the pregnancy “bump” is included as well as advice on positioning and contra-indications to massage.
The course includes a comprehensive teaching mannual, consultation form, access to online videos covering the routine and after course support. There are some short answer review questions to clarify knowledge at the end of the course which must be submitted and marked before the certificate is granted. The course is accredited by Westminster Indemnity and Blossom & Berry.
Requirements
A recognised qualification in massage or body work.
You may need to bring a partner to practise massage on during the day depending on course numbers.
