We want all parents/carers to feel welcome, included and safe when they attend a parent/carer and baby class and as educators, it is our duty to ensure that our groups and classes are fully inclusive. This mini-course is designed to challenge any bias or unconscious prejudice we may hold about parents and carers based on their identification. IT IS FREE TO ALL - We are committed to social justice and equity
WHY STUDY SAFE SPACES?
Every parent/carer has a different experience when they attend a group. Some feel anxious before they attend and need their mind put at ease to allay their anxieties. Some parents/carers fear judgement because of how they identify or express themselves. We want to ensure that when any parent/carer and child attend your group, they will feel included and above all else SAFE.
Safe Spaces is a short course that gives a voice to parents/carers from different walks of life so that you can learn from their experiences. Included within the course:
Short videos from:
Also included in the SAFE SPACES course:
We have included additional resources to enhance your learning. You’ll discover some fantastic blogs, social media platforms to follow and some beautiful short films.
Building up resources will happen more and more over time.
We want to pass the mic and amplify the voices of parents and carers from all backgrounds.
You can gain access to this course if you are looking to understand more about inclusion and equity in pregnancy, birth and baby spaces. It is open to Blossom & Berry students and also teachers who have trained with other training providers. This is a course for everyone as we want to amplify the voices and experiences of a diverse range of parents/carers.
Access to the course online and an invite to join our open Facebook group "The Membership-Global Birth and Baby Collective"
This training could not have happened without members of the Blossom & Berry community sharing their experiences and stories.
With bravery, courage and vulnerability they are talking about their experience of belonging in parent/carer and baby spaces and sharing what was a challenge and what they valued.
They also share resources that represent their voices and needs so that we can be more aware and educated.
We want to say a BIG THANK YOU to them all
